What are managed network services?
Managed network services is a contracted service in which the customer offloads all responsibility of operation, maintenance, monitoring and support of all network services on the property. As the service provider we own, maintain and replace all network equipment on the property as needed. Basically you rest assured that your network is always operational and you know exactly how much it will cost every month and year. We set up redundant internet connections with automatic failover so that if one internet provider goes down, you stay up. We provide monitoring of all internet connections and every piece of internal network equipment 24×7. We are located in Stateline, NV and we typically respond to all network outages within one hour. Being in a remote area such as Tahoe, TTS also stocks local replacements/spares of every piece of equipment in use so that you are never waiting overnight, or worse yet over a weekend, for a replacement part.
Why would my company or organization need managed network services?
Network operations can be more important to some businesses than others. If you are operating a business in which guests or customers depend on your network services as an integral part of their experience, or guests and/or customers reliance on these services extends outside of ‘normal business hours’, it probably makes sense to outsource management of your network services. Obviously network operations (POS, administrative staff computers and software systems, guest internet access systems and wifi, video surveillance and potentially network based access control systems) are vital to any business during business hours to the current day to day operations. But now with many resort and hospitality operations, network services, particularly guest internet access and video surveillance, are equally as important at night and in the early morning. It is not cost effective or reliable for most businesses to try to employ 24×7 monitoring and support internally. TTS monitors, manages and supports a number of critical, high traffic hospitality networks for a number of premier South Tahoe properties 24×7. We are there to respond quickly and efficiently to network issues or outages at any time of day.
Why should I choose TTS over other larger managed network service providers out of Reno or Scaramento?
To the best of our knowledge their is no other competitive managed network service provider in the South Tahoe area. The nearest competitive service providers are in Reno, Sacramento or the Bay Area. If you contract with one of these companies, they will come on site for support calls or network outages, however in most instances it will take them at least 4 hours. TTS is local to the South Tahoe area and always has a local employee on call for 24×7 network support. We monitor every piece of network equipment on property and are notified of any failed connection or piece of equipment within 5 minutes of failure. We generally put service level agreements in our contracts with performance penalties in which the customer is credited if we do not respond to an outage within a one or two hour window. If any network outage is not resolved within 2 hours, we begin to lose significant amounts of money. We intentionally structure our contracts this way to provide the customer with a clear understanding of the level of confidence we provide in our networks, service levels and response times. We have never incurred a performance penalty on any of our managed network service contracts in seven years.
How Much Will It Cost?
We begin by evaluating all of your property wide operations with your management team to determine the infrastructure and equipment required to reliably fulfill the operational requirements. From there we can provide an estimated equipment and install cost as well as internet bandwidth requirements and an estimated monthly internet bandwidth cost. Based on these two estimated costs and the preferred contract term, we determine the monthly cost for all managed services including equipment and bandwidth. If you prefer to own the equipment, we can structure the contract that way as well. We are confident that our pricing is always very competitive and typically lower when compared to other larger companies in Reno, Sacramento or the Bay Area.
Other Stuff
We are licensed/insured/bonded to install all of the network wiring if needed or we can work with your wiring contractor to coordinate network cabling requirements. We would be interested in bidding for the cabling, rack/port termination if you need help with this.
We design, install, maintain and support cutting edge IP network based, remotely viewable/reviewable video surveillance systems ranging up to 100+ cameras. We currently operate and support a number of these systems locally and in Reno.
We can provide free, authenticated (name/room #), or paid guest internet access systems. Revenue streams from paid systems can be fully allocated to the customer or shared to reduce the monthly cost of the managed services. Industry research suggests that guests generally prefer at least a basic (limited bandwidth) free service these days. A tiered service is popular for properties looking to generate additional revenue now. Fully free service is always a nice amenity.
We can also provide managed IT/systems support services. If you prefer to have a single contact for network and IT services, we can provide this.
